My new latest desktop, completed as of a few hours ago. I had fun with this, and did a bit of win-modding/resource hacking in the process, as well as some graphic work, but nothing major.


The background is by Misery In Motion (DDR) (DeadDreamer.com) and is one of his older works. A personal favorite, I've had it saved and used it on and off for a long time. It's beautiful, and it scares those who shouldn't be there away from my comp. What more could I ask for?

Color mods (extensive shadow and menu color modification past what windows normally allows) were done with DisplaySet, a neat little program originally published in PC Magazine, in one of the 2001 issues. Still works through, even with XP (SP1) which happens to be what I'm running, so long as you change to "classic mode" in the display> appearance properties. ([link])

T-Clock 2 was used to remove the start menu button. ([link])

The little blue gradient icon in the sys-tray modifies the alt-tab menu so it appears as a standard drop-down menu in the center of the screen. Unfortunately, I've resource-hacked it near to death, having replaced the icon, deleted all tool-tips, deleted menus, renamed the exe to make more sense (tab-mod.exe isn't original)... About all I can tell you is that it was originally Japanese and was translated to english (sort of) but works great.

I'm by no means finished. I plan to have "flat-xp" as I'm calling it down to a science, and to be able to switch color schemes via a sys-tray drop-down menu.
